1999 996.1 Carrera

I managed to survive marital wrath after purchasing this car at auction. I had hoped someone had wrapped the vehicle, but upon delivery, I learned the ugly truth. Someone had sprayed the entirety of the car with rhino lining, wheels included (with some overspray on the brake calipers). With a quote of more than I paid for the car just to strip it, we decided to lean into it. We added Hella lights to the car using mounts from Eurowise. The engine was in rough shape, requiring a new AOS set up, new injectors (which were the wrong size) as well as new coils and plugs to replace the cheap amazon set that someone had used. The indie mechanic I use pulled 12, yes 12, quarts of oil from the car. The interior was also in rough shape. Neither seat had any working electronics and for the first 6 months, I used rafter straps to tie the seat bolts to the mounting holes. Eventually, those were replaced with manual 997 seats which are so much more comfortable. I recently upgraded the burnt out halogen headlights to a clean litronic set.
