2000 986 Boxster 2.7

Bought in 2025 after who knows how many owners; engine and body was in great shape, interior needed work to fix 25+ yrs of soft touch paint, scratches, and degrading plastic. Spent the winter performing all essential maintenance (drains, fluids, birds nest worth of debris behind radiators) and investments in drivability (suspension refresh, alignment, new ignition coils, new taillights). Added SonyXAV-AX6000 head unit for Apple CarPlay with new Kicker 3.5” dash speakers and added 4x6” Rockford Fosgate speakers into rear parcel box with JBL powered subwoofer behind the passenger seat so that I can listen to great tunes with top down on our curvy back roads. Did extensive work to strip down and repaint or recover interior pieces; most proud of leather cover upgrade to arm rests, creating a durable, soft elbow rest. If there is a Porsche version of Zen and the Art of Motorcyle Maintenance for our cars, this was my entry. Hours spent reviewing project videos, how-to articles, and getting input from the 986 and greater Porsche community has been life giving :-). In interesting side story fashion, my best mechanic to call has been ChatGPT - has helped me diagnose ground faults, identify parts to purchase, review aftermarket options, and clean ICV and MAF - patient with any and all questions.
