2006 987.1B Boxster

    About Guards Red 987.1

This is my 2006 Porsche Boxster, a 987.1 Boxster finished in Guards Red with a Stone Grey interior and Black soft top. I bought it on Cars & Bids and flew to St. Louis to pick it up. I then drove it home to Connecticut over Memorial Day weekend 2026, which was a pretty great way to get acquainted with a new car. It’s a base model powered by a 2.7-liter flat-six producing 240 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. It may be the base Boxster, but it has more than enough power for the road, especially with the top down and the engine directly behind you. Factory equipment includes the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, 18-inch Boxster S wheels, leather upholstery, Bose surround sound, cruise control, air conditioning, and a power-operated soft top. The main modification is an OBX stainless-steel cat-back exhaust, which gives the flat-six a little more presence without changing the character of the car. The Boxster spent most of its earlier life in Texas and California with a quick stop in Missouri before the move to the East Coast. It replaced my 2002 Boxster 986 and continues what apparently has become my habit of owning mid-engine Porsches. This profile will document the maintenance, projects, improvements, road trips, and miles that come next. The plan is simple: keep it sorted, make it mine, and drive it.
